The most expensive house in Portugal is in Albufeira and costs 24.5 million euros

Situated on top of the cliffs in Sesmarias-Cerro de Águia-Pátio, between the municipalities of Albufeira and Olhos de Água, in the Algarve. It is in this place that the most expensive house in mainland Portugal and the islands is for sale , for a price of 24.5 million euros and a value of m2 of 60 thousand euros, According to the portal 'idealista'.

This 5 bedroom villa covers an area of 407m2, of which 369m2 are floor area. It was built in 2009 and, among other amenities, has a garden and a leisure area of 80m2, equipped with a professional tennis court and a private golf course.

Inside, it has five spacious bedrooms, three of which are en suite and two demi-suites, which allow a connection between the rooms in a functional way. The marketing of this development is in charge of the luxury real estate company, Sotheby's International Realty.

Added to this is a master suite that occupies the entire upper floor, comprising the walking closet and the bathroom with jacuzzi and vertical spa with sauna. This second-hand mansion also includes a plot of 5,289m2, four bathrooms, terrace and outdoor swimming pool.

However, the luxury real estate market is not only about mansions, there are also palaces or even estates. Although prices are lower than the 24.5 million for the Albufeira villa, this segment is still only for the pockets of the wealthiest.

Unsurprisingly, the Algarve region is the one where this market is predominant. Looking at the data from 'idealista', among the 10 most expensive residences in Portugal, five are in the south of the country, in particular in the area of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo.

This list also includes two palaces, one in Paço de Arcos and the other in Azeitão, in the district of Setúbal, as well as a mansion with 17 rooms in Estoril.
